Tuesday 19 May 2020 11:00 GMT (CWSN) Kesia QuluEducation Minister Angie Motshekga rebukes the recent national vandalism sprees to Seventy Seven (1,577) schools and then begins to deliver a detailed national schools reopening, plan.In summary:• A face-in reopening of public and Private school initiates 1,june 2020 but only permits grades 7 and 12.• Special permission for the provincial travel of educators and Learners is in place• Day one will commence with the Educator, Learner and Support Staff orientation programme to usher them into the new norm. • Psychosocial Support Services will be available for the mental wellbeing of learners Department state of readiness: • Covid-19 essentials such as sanitizers, masks, water and sanitation, and other necessary precautionary measures are in place and continue rollout nationally.• Special Safety attention will be given to all learners • Department has partnered with heath professionals to ensure immediate attention to ill learners, parents are urged to alert educators in advance of any pre-existing health conditions a learner may have.• The DBE’s Rand water and water and sanitation partnership will ensure that every school is water sufficient around the country. • Health, Social safety and physical regulations as per covid-19 regulations will be adhered to through the achievement of a trimmed curriculum.• The intelligence and commitment of school principals and school management will be crucial to ensure a precise and adequate implement of the new programme set to save the academic year.• Sporting school activities remain prohibited and that learners are expected to go home immediately after the end of school.• All learners are to sanitize when entering their school transport and remain in masks throughout the day.
